Thanks to Bob (N8YXR) and Jennie (KC8RBV) for writing a grant and obtaining equipment for the First Ward Community Center Radio Station!  They have spent weeks doing ham radio training for community members there; and now as the students pass their license tests they will have a nice place to operate.

On July 21, 2007 from 9AM to 5PM Bob and Jennie, along with Dave (N8ERL), Jim (WA8GRI), John (KC8WZM), and Keith (N8XD) spent a beautiful Saturday installing and configuring the station.   The FT-897 and the FT-7800 installed in a secure room and coaxial cable was run 100 feet to the roof, where a 6-band HF vertical and a 2m/70cm VHF/UHF antenna were assembled and installed.  The work was hard,  the lunch provided was fantastic, and the station looks great.   An excellent job by all that participated!
