Metro Youth
Day (July 8, 2009)
This annual event held at Belle Isle hosts over 18,000 youth from
Metro Detroit for games, contests, entertainment, sports clinics, and
lunch. Several local celebrities and over 900 volunteers are on hand to
ensure that the event is a success.
Field
Day (June 27-28 2009)
On Field Day, amateur radio operators from all over the country
take their portable radio equipment out to parks, fields, and served
agencies like the Red Cross. We try to make contact with as many
stations as we can. 2008

Midland Dow Run - Saturday June 2,
2009
Several members of SVARA aided the Midland club in providing
communications for their annual Dow Run.
Technician Class (Saturday May 23, 2009) at the Red Cross
A a one day Technician class will be
held on Saturday May 23, 2009.
The class will begin at 8:30 am - 4:30 pm a the American Red Cross
offices, 1232 N. Michigan
Ave., Saginaw, MI. For more

SVARA participated in providing communications for a Run/Walk for Miss Julianne Windy. Julianne was an outstanding teacher and coach at Swan Valley High School until a car accident 2007. This was the first event and SVARA members help make it a success.
SVARA regularly participates in the Frankenmuth Multiple Sclerosis Walk. Amateur radio operators provide the communications between the race officials, aid stations, and vehicles. The meeting place is now Kern Pavilion in Heritage Park 601 Weiss Street (not the school). Check the MS-Walk page for more information, or contact Rick Schattilly (KC8VOA).
Once again we operated from the Club radio station at the Red Cross for the ARRL DX Contest.
